Decision Problems for Propositional Linear Logic

چکیده
Linear logic, introduced by Girard, is a refinement of classical logic with a natural, intrinsic accounting of resources. We show that unlike most other propositional (quantifier-free) logics, full propositional linear logic is undecidable. Further, we prove that without the modal s torage operator, which indicates unboundedness of resources, the decision problem becomes PSPACE-Complete. We also establish membership in NP for the multiplicative fragment, NP-completeness for the multiplicative fragment extended with unrestricted weakening, and undecidability for certain fragments of noncommutative propositional linear logic.

A MONA-based Decision Procedure for Propositional Interval Temporal Logic
Interval Temporal Logic (ITL) is a finite-time linear temporal logic with applications in hardware verification, temporal logic programming and specification of multimedia documents. Due to the inherently nonelementary complexity of its decision problem, efficient ITL-based verification tools have been difficult to develop. We give a new decision procedure for Propositional ITL (PITL) implement...
متن کاملEquality propositional logic and its extensions
We introduce a new formal logic, called equality propositional logic. It has two basic connectives, $boldsymbol{wedge}$ (conjunction) and $equiv$ (equivalence). Moreover, the $Rightarrow$ (implication) connective can be derived as $ARightarrow B:=(Aboldsymbol{wedge}B)equiv A$. We formulate the equality propositional logic and demonstrate that the resulting logic has reasonable properties such a...
متن کاملMonodic temporal logic with quantified propositional variables
We extend the monodic fragment of first-order linear temporal logic to include right-linear grammar operators and quantification of propositional variables. Unlike propositional temporal logic, the use of grammar operators in first-order temporal logic is not equivalent to general propositional quantification, as the latter admit satisfiable formulae without countable models. We consider the de...

Interval Temporal Logic (ITL) is a finite-time linear temporal logic with applications in hardware verification, temporal logic programming and specification of multimedia documents. Due to the logic’s non-elementary complexity, efficient ITL-based verification tools have been difficult to develop, even for propositional subsets. MONA is an efficient implementation of an automata-based decision...
متن کاملSolving Graded/Probabilistic Modal Logic via Linear Inequalities (System Description)
We present the experience gained from implementing a new decision procedure for both graded and probabilistic modal logic. While our approach uses standard tableaux for propositional connectives, modal rules are given by linear constraints on the arguments of operators. The implementation uses binary decision diagrams for propositional connectives and a linear programming library for the modal ...
